Meinl Byzance Dark Cymbals
Are you into cymbals with complex sound and rustic character? Then, come on over to the dark side. Vintage look Byzance Dark cymbals have a completely unlathed, untreated finish on both the top and bottom side and take on a more distressed and naturally discolored appearance. Adding to its rugged look are hundreds of randomly struck hammer marks pockmarking the surface. Only the bell is saved from the artisan's blows. Musically, these cymbals are distinguished by an earthy sound with a fairly short sustain and fewer overtones.
Byzance Dark cymbals are individually cast from durable B20 bronze in Turkey, then precision finished in Meinl's factory in Germany. It may sound odd to consider a cymbal a unique work of art, but because each cymbal is hammered by hand into shape, the exclusive sonic characteristics produced by each cymbal can never be exactly duplicated. Which means no two Byzance cymbals are ever the same!
