Many drummers are of the belief that a flat ride can only be used in a traditional jazz setting. Not true, according to renowned drummer Wolfgang Haffner, who collaborated with Meinl to create the Byzance Jazz series. He declares, "the fact is that a flat ride can be used in various styles of music and situations, such as pop, jazz, ballads, blues, fusion and many others. My Meinl Club Ride sounds perfect both live and in the studio. It has a cool touch and looks absolutely stunning."
The thin, ultra responsive Byzance Jazz Club Ride is a distinctive flat ride cymbal with great presence and depth and a penchant for lower and more complex overtones. Large, deep hammering marks and four rivets make the cymbal sound dark and intense, yet soft and smooth. It finishes with a long, lingering sustain that gently sizzles without distracting or overpowering the other instruments no matter how slow and easy or how hard and fast you play.
Each and every Club Ride is expertly handcrafted in Turkey from a B20 bronze alloy and available in a 20" and 22" size. Because each cymbal is made by hand, no two are ever exactly alike in look or tonal personality.
